The Liberty High School Jazz Ensemble is open by audition to all students who:
Enrolled in the Liberty High School Band program (exceptions considered for piano, guitar, and bass).
Are highly motivated individuals who demonstrate discipline and a maturity about their musicianship.
Have good standing within the band organization.
The instrumentation for this performing ensemble is: 2 alto saxophones, 2 tenor saxophones, 1 baritone saxophone, 4 trumpets, 4 trombones, 1 piano, 1 upright bass, 1 drum set, and 1 percussion.
To supplement the improvisational component and ensemble performances throughout the school year, the members in the group are exposed to a thorough study of jazz through relevant and in-depth study of its rich history, significant events and figures that shaped the genre, as a well as critical listening
and viewing of recordings and videos.
The jazz ensemble meets outside the school day and begins after the conclusion of marching season.
